About Voting Absentee:

A voter may apply for an Absentee Ballot without restriction up to and including the Thursday before any election. The application may be submitted to the City Clerk by mail, by telephone, in person, or online through the Maine Online Absentee Ballot Request ServiceTo apply by mail, print out the application here. An immediate family member may submit a written application for a voter. 

All Absentee Ballots must be received by the City Clerk no later than the close of the polls on Election Day.

After the Thursday before an election, a voter applying for an Absentee Ballot must confirm that one of the following special circumstances exists:

1) the voter will be absent from the municipality of residence unexpectedly during the entire time the polls are open on election day;

2) the voter has a physical disability;

3) the voter is unable to leave his/her home or treatment facility due to an incapacity or illness; or

4) the voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct and is unable to travel to the polls.
